Whether in the next few months or the next few years, the Boston Red Sox will eventually welcome some of the top prospects in Major League Baseball to their roster.
After calling up Kristian Campbell, the hope is for the Red Sox to eventually make a move for Marcelo Mayer and Roman Anthony. However, that time hasn't come yet, and for now, the two star-studded prospects are in the minors.
For Campbell, however, he understands his former teammates better than anyone. He also knows what it takes to succeed at the highest level, and wanted to give some tips to Mayer, who will come up and play the infield for the Red Sox.
"I would tell Marcelo, specifically, for the infield, know who's up to bat and know who's running," Campbell told Jen McCaffrey of The Athletic. "Some plays are dead when there's no play, there's no play. There's not too much you can do when that happens."
Instead of giving him tips about mental things, he gave him a baseball answer, something that isn't often given. However, this is a good indication that the Red Sox are all about their business, a very good sign for the young man.
Regarding when both players could come up, McCaffrey reported that Campbell doesn't know yet, but he's taking notes over his first few months in the show and will be ready to share whatever he learns with his friends.
"Like everyone else outside the Red Sox front office, Campbell does not know when Anthony and Mayer will debut, but he's been taking notes over the first several weeks of his big-league career to pass on to the pair when they do arrive."
