Kyle Tucker, Pete Crow-Armstrong Make MLB History for Cubs

Chicago Cubs duo Kyle Tucker and Pete Crow-Armstrong have powered the team to the NL Central’s best record at 49–35 and an impressive +104 run differential.

Tucker enters his eighth major-league season—and his first with the Cubs—after the Houston Astros, fearing they’d lose him to free agency, capitalized on his value in a December 2024 swap for Isaac Paredes, Hayden Wesneski and Cam Smith. Over seven seasons in Houston, Tucker became the go-to performer in multiple playoff runs, won the 2022 World Series and collected three All-Star nods, a Gold Glove and a Silver Slugger.

In his third season since debuting in 2023, Crow-Armstrong has emerged as a breakout star in Chicago this year. The 23-year-old ranks second among NL outfielders in All-Star Game voting—behind only Ronald Acuña Jr.—and has established him as the team’s dynamic center fielder.

Over the first three months of the 2025 season, the Cubs’ superstar tandem etched their names in history, accomplishing a feat that hasn't been seen in over a century.

Crow-Armstrong and Tucker became the first MLB teammates since George Sisler and Ken Williams of the 1922 St. Louis Browns to each enter July with at least 30 extra-base hits and 20 stolen bases.

Over 83 games in 2025, Tucker is batting .291 with 17 home runs, 20 stolen bases and a .931 OPS, while Crow-Armstrong is hitting .262 with 21 homers, 25 steals and an .836 OPS

Chicago sits atop a tightly contested NL Central—one of four clubs over .500, with the Milwaukee Brewers (47–37) just two games back—and the Cubs are searching for their first division title since 2020. With the Cincinnati Reds and St. Louis Cardinals also in the mix, sustaining this production down the stretch is crucial.
