Latest injury update on Joe Jimenez

Outside of Raisel Iglesias, the Braves relief core has mostly come along very nicely this season, and with Daysbel Hernandez returning last night, it could be one of the few positive aspects of the club moving forward.

Additionally, a slew of reinforcements could end up joining the club over the final three months. On the farm, the Stripers feature three intriguing arms — Hayden Harris, Jhancarlos Lara, and Wander Suero — who look like they could positively contribute in Atlanta at a moment’s notice. The Braves could also welcome back a couple of high-powered arms from the IL. Most notably, Joe Jimenez, who has yet to pitch this season after undergoing knee surgery in the offseason.

Thanks to an Instagram video Jimenez posted yesterday, the reliever can be seen throwing off a mound as he continues to take positive steps towards returning.

The Braves have yet to say much about when Jimenez might return to play, but it doesn’t seem like it will be too much longer. Providing there are no setbacks, a rehab assignment could begin not long after the All-Star break and a return sometime in August doesn’t sound unrealistic.

In his two seasons with the Braves, Joe Jimenez owns a 2.81 ERA over 128 appearances.
