With multiple decades of play-by-play commentary under his belt for some of the NFL and MLB's highest-leverage games, Joe Buck's legacy in the broadcast booth is pretty much cemented.
But that hasn't stopped the longtime television voice from adding more milestones to his distinguished television career — which began back in 1991 calling St. Louis Cardinals games with his father.
Now after working more World Series games and All-Star games than any announcer in history, Buck is set to receive yet another honor from the National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum.
On Wednesday the Baseball Hall congratulated Buck on being named the 50th winner of the Ford C. Frick Award, handed out annually to the announcer that best exhibits excellence in broadcasting for MLB games.
Buck will be honored during Hall of Fame weekend next summer (July 24-27) and joins his father, Jack, as the only father/son duo to win the award.
“Joe Buck authored his own historic legacy while following in the footsteps of his father on a path to Cooperstown,” said Josh Rawitch, President of the National Baseball Hall of Fame. “During an era of unprecedented audience growth throughout the game, Joe was the voice of the World Series and the All-Star Game, calling the biggest moments in baseball for more than a quarter of a century. He was a Saturday staple in homes across America while still serving as the voice of his hometown St. Louis Cardinals.”
