There isn’t much hype around pitchers in the Milwaukee Brewers’ starting rotation other than Jacob Misiorowski. But there should be, as Logan Henderson has been impressive in his own right. He doesn’t have the flashy, overpowering fastball like Misiorowski.

Nothing about Henderson is eye-popping. He’s a bit old school. He throws a 93-94 mph fastball, plus a changeup, with pinpoint location to dice up lineups.

The Brewers’ top of the rotation doesn’t look as expected in 2026, except for Misiorowski. Misiorowski was expected to lead the Brewers’ rotation with veteran Brandon Woodruff as the sidekick No. 2 man. Quinn Priester was a solid No. 3. But Woodruff has missed much of the season with a shoulder injury; Priester also has thoracic outlet syndrome. Henderson stepped into the role as a steadying force for the Brewers.

Henderson Steps up for the Brewers

It has been a rapid ascent for Henderson to the top of the Brewers’ rotation. In 2025, Henderson made his Major League debut in April and bounced between AAA Nashville and Milwaukee. He went 3-0 with a 1.78 ERA in only five Milwaukee starts before a right flexor strain ended his regular season in August.

The 2021 fourth-round selection also suffered an elbow injury in 2022 that limited him to just seven starts in his first year in the minors. Henderson missed time with a flexor strain in his elbow last year, and he didn’t pitch again in 2025. He also missed a month this year with a lower back strain. While he has battled the injury bug in his career, Henderson has been special when on the field.

In a time when the blazing fastball has never been more common, Henderson does it differently. Misiorowski has that elite fastball and unhittable stuff to the naked eye; Henderson does it with guile and grit. Despite having the nasty changeup, Henderson doesn’t have an overpowering fastball and throws fastballs or changeup 90% of the time.

He lives in the strike zone with an aggressive mentality and frustrates opposing offenses.

However, a Brewers rookie has stepped into that role. Logan Henderson, 24, has become a top-tier bona fide starter and a strong complement to Misiorowski at the top of the Brewers’ rotation.

Henderson Makes History

Logan Henderson’s start to his big-league career is record-breaking. He has made 23 starts in his big-league career and has never allowed more than three earned runs in a start. That ties Zac Gallen with 23 such starts to begin a career and the longest such streak to begin a career since the mound moved to its current distance in 1893.

Henderson, still officially a rookie, compiled an impressive season with a sparkling 11-3 record, 2.47 ERA, and a minuscule 0.84 WHIP. That 0.78 WHIP rivaled Jacob Misiorowski, who finished with 0.80. Opponents have hit only .183 against Henderson, and he has walked just 19 in his 18 starts. He tossed 98.1 innings, struck out 110 and amassed a 3.3 WAR in fewer than 20 starts.

In September, Henderson has shown he’s ready for the ball in October, too. After missing the postseason last year, Henderson will take center stage as the Brewers’ No. 2 starter. Against division rival Chicago Cubs, Henderson had two standout starts in September with 12.1 combined innings; he allowed three runs, two earned.

He’s also shown his mettle against the two-time defending World Series champion Dodgers, who swept the Brewers in the NLCS a season ago. Henderson is 2-0 against them with 12 innings pitched, allowing only five hits and one run in those outings. He particularly dazzled on Aug. 16 against the Dodgers, going seven innings and allowing just three hits and one run while striking out six and walking just one.

Henderson No. 2 Starter for Brewers

In a season that once seemed to offer the Brewers countless reliable starting pitching options, the staff became decimated. Logan Henderson has stepped up and is the Brewers’ clear No. 2 starter. He complements Miz, who blows his electric fastball past hitters. Henderson relies mostly on a fastball-changeup mix, with a fastball that sits around 93-94 mph.

Henderson has been a bulldog, attacking hitters in the zone. He doesn’t walk batters, and it will be fascinating to see if the right-hander can continue his brilliance in October.
