Logan Henderson’s Message After Brewers Trade Deadline Decision

Milwaukee Brewers rookie Logan Henderson admitted he was relieved to remain with the organization after the MLB trade deadline, revealing he personally thanked general manager Matt Arnold for keeping him in Milwaukee despite trade speculation.

Speaking after Tuesday's win over the Pittsburgh Pirates, Henderson told reporters, "I'm a Brewer," underscoring his commitment to the club after Arnold declined to move the promising right-hander at the deadline.

Milwaukee's decision came as the club improved to 70-43, maintaining a 5.5-game lead over the Chicago Cubs atop the National League Central while continuing one of the best seasons in franchise history.

Henderson has rewarded the Brewers' confidence throughout his rookie campaign. The 24-year-old is 6-1 with a 2.70 ERA across 10 starts, striking out 62 batters while walking only 10 in 50 innings. Opponents are batting just .193 against him this season.

He delivered another strong performance Tuesday, allowing two runs over six innings while striking out eight Pirates hitters in Milwaukee's 4-2 victory. Earlier this year, Henderson missed several weeks with a lower back strain but has returned to solidify his place in the rotation.

Arnold's decision to keep Henderson signals the Brewers' belief that the rookie is more valuable in their postseason push than any return they could have received at the deadline. Henderson reportedly drew interest from multiple clubs before Milwaukee elected to hold onto its young starter.

The Brewers now enter the stretch run with Henderson joining Jacob Misiorowski, Dustin May and the rest of a rotation that has helped Milwaukee build the best record in the National League Central.
