Longtime Dodgers Utility Man Switches Sides, Signs with Crosstown Rival Los Angeles Angels

As the Los Angeles Dodgers move one of several longtime players, those veterans will look to contribute elsewhere with teams in need of their experience and skill.

One of those players happened to be multi-tool guy Chris Taylor.

Taylor spent nine seasons with the Dodgers, winning two World Series with the team in 2020 and 2024.

He was let go by them just over a week ago, and he was able to make quick work in finding a new team, signing with the Los Angeles Angels.

Although he brings some veteran experience coming from the Dodgers, Taylor has struggled so far in 2025. Having a batting average of .200 and driving in two RBIs in 28 games played this season.

He was able to speak to the media after signing with the Angels on Monday.

"I'm excited to stay home... I've been with the Dodgers for nine years, and I do believe it was time for me," Taylor said. "I'm a new face here, so I'm going to ease my way into it, but I'm excited to help in any way I can."

The Angels will implement Taylor into their lineup immediately and will start at center field for them in their series opener against the New York Yankees on Monday night.

Taylor's Angels debut will give 23-year-old Kyren Paris a break as he's struggled in the batter's box since mid-April.

Although it was a sad parting of ways between Chris Taylor and the Los Angeles Dodgers, he will have a fresh start on a new team in hopes that he will get more opportunities on the field.
