Talk about a bad beat. The New Orleans Saints couldn't move the ball all night, so of course third-string QB Jake Haener entered the game and led a meaningless touchdown drive to ruin our under 37 bet. That's a tough one to stomach, but let's bounce back with our favorite play for Friday's MLB action.
The New York Yankees are taking on the Cleveland Guardians in Game 4 of the ALCS, and we're looking for Gil to struggle out of the gates.
Gil is making his first career postseason start, and a raucous Cleveland crowd will be ready to give him a warm welcome to the postseason. The Guardians finished Game 3 with a power-hitting flurry, and we're hoping they can ride that momentum into this matchup against Gil.
Gil hasn't pitched in the playoffs yet due to his struggles down the stretch of the regular season. The rookie right-hander gave up 11 hits and 10 earned runs in his last 11.0 innings of work, and those starts came against the Pittsburgh Pirates and Oakland Athletics.
Cleveland has one of the most patient lineups in MLB, which makes this a brutal matchup for Gil and his control issues. The Guardians worked six walks in their lone matchup against Gil earlier this season. The playoff pressure and road environment are only going to exacerbate Gil's weaknesses.
