Center fielder Luis Robert Jr. is in his sixth season with the Chicago White Sox after making his big-league debut during the pandemic-shortened 2020 campaign.
Robert made an impact in 56 games as a rookie, stealing nine bases and crushing eleven home runs en route to a second-place finish in American League Rookie of the Year voting and earning a Gold Glove.
After two injury-riddled years in 2021 and 2022, Robert returned to full health in 2023 and delivered his best season.
In 145 games, the 27-year-old star batted .264 with an .857 OPS, collected his first All-Star selection and captured a Silver Slugger award, showcasing both power and consistency at the plate.
Since that peak, lingering health concerns and underperformance have contributed to a significant decline over the past two seasons.
Ahead of Friday’s game against the Chicago White Sox, Robert was held out of the lineup because of a groin injury.

for the White Sox due to a tight groin (no trade).
With the July 30 trade deadline approaching, Robert’s skill set has made him a hot commodity across the league.
In 84 games this season, he is batting .206 with a .636 OPS, both marks career lows. Yet July has brought a resurgence: across 11 games, he is hitting .351 with an .982 OPS.
Chicago’s fall from playoff contention amid back-to-back losing seasons has fueled speculation that a change of scenery could rejuvenate Robert’s game and allow him to realize the five-tool potential that made him one of baseball’s most exciting young talents.
