After a red-hot start to kick off the month of August, the Seattle Mariners have not only come back down to earth, but they are full-on struggling at the moment.
Seattle lost their fourth consecutive game on Tuesday, and they are now losers of six of their last seven games. With a 68-59 record, the Mariners are still in possession of the third AL Wild Card spot. However, they are just 2.5 games ahead of the Cleveland Guardians.
The Mariners' cold streak has even been noticeable when they are not in action. During a rehab game on Monday, outfielder Victor Robles threw his bat at pitcher Joey Estes after nearly getting hit by a pitch.
Following Robles' actions, the MLB has given him a 10-game suspension, though he is expected to appeal the suspension to potentially have it reduced. However, according to Mariners beat writer Ryan Divish, though the 28-year-old has yet to be activated from the injured list, he must serve his suspension at the MLB level regardless of how many games it will be.
"Victor Robles has received a 10-game suspension from Major League Baseball. He is expected to appeal the decision in hopes of having it reduced," Divish wrote on X. "Any suspension must be served at the MLB level, meaning he will miss games once he's reinstated from the injured list."

Any suspension must be served at the MLB level, meaning he will miss games once he's reinstated from the injured list.
This not only guarantees that he will miss even more games this season as Seattle looks to make a playoff push, but the team will also be a man down during arguably their most important stretch of the season.
Robles, who is in the midst of his first full season with the Mariners, has not appeared in an MLB game since April 6 due to a shoulder injury. Before going down with the injury, Robles was hitting .283 and recorded three RBIs in 10 games.
Despite solid seasons in each of the last two years, the Mariners have yet to return to the playoffs after breaking their 21-year drought in 2023. With a little over a month left in the season, they are in a decent position to make it back to the playoffs. However, if their recent play is any indication, it is going to be an uphill battle.
If the season ended today, Seattle would officially be back in the playoffs. However, it is still tough to feel confident about their standing given their recent play. In addition to the Guardians, the Kansas City Royals, who are three games behind the Mariners, are creeping up behind them as well as they are 7-3 in their last 10 games.
The Mariners are talented and in the playoff race for a reason, but they need to turn things around quickly if they want to guarantee a return to the postseason.
