Marcell Ozuna helped out his trade value last night in the Braves win over the Royals, hitting his third homer in ten games and walking twice.
The market for designated hitters this time of year, particularly ones that have hit well below the Mendoza Line over the last two months, isn’t exactly robust. However, according to Buster Olney, there is some movement surrounding the Big Bear with 48 hours to go until the trade deadline.
With little more than 48 hours to go before the deadline, there is movement developing around Marcell Ozuna, who has the power to reject any trade proposal. At least one team has had internal conversations about trying to work out a deal for the slugger.

The haul the Braves get in return for Marcell Ozuna is likely to be minimal. Even after last night, he’s hitting just .163 with a .547 OPS over his last 41 games. It’s also been well-documented that he’s been playing with a tear in his hip since April, which has clearly affected his performance.
If the Braves can get any prospect of worth in return for Ozuna, it should be viewed as a win for the front office.
