Marlins Make Historic Kyle Stowers, Giancarlo Stanton Announcement

Left-handed outfielder Kyle Stowers is in his first full season as a member of the Miami Marlins. The 27-year-old breakout star was originally selected by the Baltimore Orioles in the second round of the 2019 MLB Draft.

Over three seasons in Baltimore, he struggled to find consistent playing time and, when he did, struggled offensively. In 67 games for Baltimore, Stowers hit just .229 with a .643 OPS and four home runs.

That led the Orioles to trade Stowers and infielder Connor Norby at the 2024 deadline for pitcher Trevor Rogers, aiming to bolster their rotation for a potential postseason run.

In 2025, Stowers has already made Baltimore regret that decision by earning his first All-Star selection as the Marlins’ lone representative last Tuesday.

During Monday's game against the San Diego Padres, Stowers smashed his eighth home run of the month—tying the franchise mark for second-most July homers—behind only Giancarlo Stanton’s 12 in 2017. With 10 days left in July, he has plenty of time to surpass Stanton’s total.

Over his last five games, Stowers has hit six home runs—a Marlins record, according to Just Baseball.

In 94 games this year, Stowers owns a .295 batting average, .930 OPS, 21 home runs and 59 RBIs. Stowers has been instrumental in Miami’s turnaround from last season. Though the Marlins sit at 46–52 and are still positioned to sell at the trade deadline, they’re building momentum and shaping their future around his emergence as a star.
