Miami Marlins outfielder Dane Myers threw an all-time temper tantrum during Thursday’s game after striking out to end the top of the fifth inning.

Myers went down swinging to end the inning with a runner on first during Thursday’s game between the Marlins and San Francisco Giants at Oracle Park in San Francisco, California. He had an unusually strong reaction to his strikeout at the hands of Giants reliever Spencer Bivens, as he snapped his bat over his own leg in fury before throwing the pieces to the ground.

Myers received some jeers from Giants fans who felt his response was disrespectful to Bivens, but did not face any further consequences.

It is not super common for a player to go full Bo Jackson and snap their own bat over their knee. Generally, it is viewed as disrespectful toward the pitcher, whether it is meant to be or not. In this instance, Myers’ temper got the better of him, and he did not even seem to have a moment of clarity after snapping the thing.

A former minor league pitcher, Myers has been a pleasant surprise for the Marlins this season. He entered play Thursday hitting .303 with four home runs in 52 games.
