Matchroom Boxing’s Newest Recruit Completes Estrada vs. Bam Undercard

The upcoming fight between Juan Francisco Estrada and Jesse Rodriguez will occur on June 29 at Footprint Center in Phoenix, Arizona, live worldwide on DAZN for Estrada‘s WBC super flyweight title. It’s one of the most fascinating fights in boxing, and the undercard is taking shape with Sunny Edwards taking on Adrien Curiel. The fight card is now complete, with the newest Matchroom recruit, Leonardo Rubalcava (7-0, 3 KOs) appearing on the bill against William Flenoy (3-3-1, 1 KO)

Rubalcava and Robert Garcia React to Deal

Matchroom have announced the signing of super lightweight prospect Rubalcava to a multi-fight promotional deal. The Mexican-born fighter made his professional debut on July 15, 2023, against Eduardo Ortiz Morales, winning by split decision. 2024 has been a busy year for the 21-year-old, fighting three times already, with his most recent win coming by TKO against Roberto Nevarez.

The Robert Garcia-trained boxer spoke on the deal: “I feel blessed for the opportunity to be part of Matchroom,”said Rubalcava. He continued: “I’m motivated to showcase my skills on this huge night and proudly represent Teocaltiche, Jalisco, Mexico worldwide.”

Robert Garcia spoke on the ability of his fighter: “Leonardo is a very talented and dedicated young man.”  He added: “Leo is one of the hardest workers in my gym, and he also works for his father, who owns a construction company. He shows up to the gym on his lunch break and spars some of the best fighters in boxing like Vergil Ortiz, Brandun Lee and Raymond Muratalla. Once sparring is done, he goes straight back to work. With the help of Eddie Hearn and Matchroom, I believe this young man will achieve a lot of great things in boxing.”
