Matt Carson thrilled penning Southampton pro deal

Southampton have announced that 19-year-old defender Matt Carson has put pen to paper on a new contract.

The teenager has signed his first contract as a professional, ensuring he remains with the club until the summer of 2024.

The Northern Ireland youngster has been with the Saints since arriving in August 2020.

Speaking after signing the deal, Carson said: This is something I've dreamt of since I started playing football so to finally sign feels good.

It was an easy decision, the club have been great.

The whole way through my injury yet again they've helped a lot and they offered me a new deal which gave me a clear head to focus on getting back."
