'Mattress Mack' bets 625 sectionals on the Houston Astros

Jim McIngvale put $10 million -- or the cost of 625 Grandview Leather Sectionals at his furniture store -- down on his hometown Houston Astros to win the World Series.

The Gallery Furniture owner is known as "Mattress Mack" and has used his fortune to bet big on the Astros in the past... and lost.

In 2017, he offered a rebate to customers contingent on the Astros winning the World Series. Per San Antonio-based ABC-affiliate KSAT, McIngvale "launched a promotion ... promising... a $3,000 mattress a full refund if the Astros won the World Series."

After the team won, he happily paid back $10 million worth in refunds. Per CBS Sports, McIngvale is running a similar promotion this year.

In 2019, he upped the stakes, per CNN. That year, McIngvale reportedly "lost about $13 million" on money bet on the Astros winning the World Series.

Last year, he placed a $2 million bet on the Astros that would have paid out $22 million, per CBS Sports.

If this bet pays out, McIngvale will win $75 million, which would be the largest amount ever paid out by a sportsbook. (h/t CBS Sports)

With that money, he could buy 4,687 of his $15,999.99 sectionals that Tiffany gave five stars and a glowing review, stating, "my dogs love it already!"

He could do that with the earnings... or he could just retire.
