Since being drafted, expectations were high for Max Clark as the Detroit Tigers selected him 3rd overall back in the 2023 MLB Draft out of high school. However, Clark made his debut this season, where he would impress.
As we talked about in our breakdown of Clark's debut for TWSN, “...how do you give this anything but an A?...Clark would end the day going 3/4 with two doubles, one RBI and one walk.”
Since then, Clark would continue to impress, although he’s only played in nine games this season.
Over this span, Clark has shown a little bit of everything. The biggest reason why Clark was drafted this highly out of high school is because of his five-tool potential.
Clark hit his first MLB home run on August 1st, showing off the power.

Not just with the bat, but we’ve seen Clark make great plays in the outfield already as well due to his speed.
Max Clark has made a couple catches that look easier than the probability so far, he's the real deal in CF.

The key here is his positioning toward RF for Raleigh. Lots of ground to cover, fortunately Max has already been over… pic.twitter.com/5K6yXaFTFw
The speed was on display from Clark here as well, when he recorded his first career triple on August 8th.

Prior to August 9th, Clark had reached base safely in the first eight games of his MLB career, but that would come to an end in game nine.

Still, that kind of start to your MLB career is extremely impressive. Over the nine games, Clark has a .297 batting average, .381 OBP, .867 OPS, a .486 SLG, two doubles, a triple, and a home run this year.
While trading away Tarik Skubal has made this a tough time for Tigers fans, Clark has brought excitement to the team.
