Meet the 2025 Philadelphia Phillies: 3B Alec Bohm
Bill Streicher-USA TODAY Sports

The 2025 MLB season is almost upon us, and so is a crucial year for the Philadelphia Phillies. Fresh off an NL East title, but subsequent loss in the NLDS, the Fightins are once again hunting for Red October and an elusive third World Series Championship.

Over the next few days, we'll be taking you through each player with a chance at making the Phils' active roster and discussing expectations for all of them. Next up is someone looking to prove the doubters wrong after a sour end to 2024...

Name: Alec Bohm

Number: 28

Position: Third Base

Throws: Right

Bats: Right

Build: 6'5", 218 lbs.

Age: 28

Acquired: 2018 MLB Draft, 1st Round (3rd Overall Pick)

Socials: Instagram, X

2024 Stats: Slashed .280/.332/.448 with 15 HRs, 44 Doubles (2nd in NL), and 97 RBI in 143 games (554 AB). He was selected to his first career All-Star Game and also appeared in the Home Run Derby. Later struggled in the NLDS, with just one hit in 13 at-bats.

2025 Projections: Bohm has to have some extra motivation after a long off-season of trade rumors. Despite reports linking him to the Houston Astros and elsewhere, Alec remains in Philadelphia as the team's starting third baseman, at least for now.

“At any given time, anything in this game can happen, right?" Bohm told Scott Lauber of the Philadelphia Inquirer. "But at the same time, I love being here and I don’t want to go anywhere else, really. So, it’s just part of the business side of things.”

While he was ice cold following a hand injury sustained in late August, Bohm had settled in as a dependable cleanup hitter behind Bryce Harper for most of the year. His strikeouts have declined, and his defense, while not spectacular, has also been adequate by MLB standards. #28 should be hunting for another All-Star appearance this year, surrounded by some combination of Harper, Bryson Stott, Nick Castellanos, and J.T. Realmuto in a still-loaded Philly lineup.
