The 2025 MLB season is almost upon us and so is a crucial year for the Philadelphia Phillies. Fresh off an NL East title, but subsequent loss in the NLDS, the Fightins are once again hunting for Red October and an elusive third World Series Championship.

Over the next few days, we'll be taking you through each player with a chance at making the Phils' active roster and discussing expectations for all of them. Next up is the masher looking to complete a 4-for-4 stretch as Philly's home run king...

Name: Kyle Schwarber

Number: 12

Position: Designated Hitter

Throws: Right

Bats: Left

Build: 6'0", 229 lbs.

Age: 32

Acquired: Signed as Free Agent in 2021-22 Offseason

Socials: Instagram, Twitter/X

2024 Stats: Slashed .248/.366/.485 with 38 HRs, 22 doubles, and 104 RBI in 150 games (573 ABs). Schwarber led the National League in walks with 106 - Shohei Ohtani was next with 81 - and was one of only four MLB players to both score and drive in at least 100 runs last season. He led off Game One of the NLDS with a home run but then went 1/14 with two BBs the rest of the series.

2025 Projections: Kyle led the NL in homers (46) his first season in Philly and hasn't slowed down at the plate. Now entering his fourth year with them, Schwarbs has been adamant that he's willing to do whatever it takes for the Phillies to win it all. Keep batting in the leadoff spot or move down to cleanup? He's fine with either. Play a bit more in the field to give others time off? Not a problem.

“I want to win," Schwarber told MLB.com's Todd Zolecki. "I just want to win the World Series, and wherever we think our best lineup needs to go to continually win baseball games, that’s what I’ll do."

Kyle is one of three players on this roster to have won a World Series Title before - he took home the 2016 crown while on the Chicago Cubs. He's also one of three core pieces, along with catcher J.T. Realmuto and pitcher Ranger Suárez, who could be playing their last year with the Phils. Schwarber has said he wants to remain in red pinstripes beyond 2025, and to make that happen, he's taking the advice of former teammate Jon Lester:

"The best way to get paid is to win.”
