The New York Mets seemingly can't go a single day without adding a new player to the injured list but will have their ace back on the mound for Tuesday's home game against the Colorado Rockies.
Per David Adler of the MLB website, two-time National League Cy Young Award winner Jacob deGrom will start for the Mets Tuesday evening. The 32-year-old last appeared for the big-league club on May 9 and landed on the IL with right side tightness, but his dominant rehab start for the Low-A St. Lucie Mets against the Palm Beach Cardinals last Thursday put him on track for a Tuesday return.
He currently has a 0.68 ERA with a 0.60 WHIP and 14.6 strikeouts per nine innings on the season.
Back on April 17, deGrom tallied 14 total strikeouts in a win at Colorado.
When Jacob deGrom faced the Rockies back in April, he struck out 9 straight batters.
