Mets acquire OF Tyler Naquin and LHP Phillip Diehl in trade with Reds

Less than a week after picking up 1B/DH Daniel Vogelbach from the Milwaukee Brewers, the NL East-leading New York Mets have made another trade ahead of the Aug. 2 deadline.

According to the New York Post's Joel Sherman, the Mets have acquired outfielder Tyler Naquin and reliever Phillip Diehl from the Cincinnati Reds

Naquin batted .245/.305/.429 with six home runs and 31 RBI in 55 games for the Reds this season.

The 31-year-old has averaged 18 home runs and 71 RBI over seven major league seasons with the Cleveland Guardians and Reds.

Diehl struggled in limited work this season for the Reds, posting an 11.12 ERA in 5.2 innings. The 28-year-old went 2-1 with a 4.24 ERA in 25 games for Triple-A Lousiville.

In return for Naquin and Diehl, the Reds will receive minor leaguers Jose Acuna and Hector Rodriguez, according to MLB.com's Mark Feinsand.

This season, Acuna and Rodriguez have spent time with the Mets' rookie team and their Single-A affiliate St. Lucie.

The 19-year-old Acuna, a right-handed pitcher, is 3-0 with a 2.67 ERA in eight minor league games this season.

Rodriguez, an 18-year-old infielder, batted .342/.378/.532 with three home runs and 16 RBI in 28 games.
