Mets Announce Starling Marte Injury Update Ahead of Key Stretch

As the New York Mets continue their crucial three-game series against the Los Angeles Angels, they are set to receive a significant boost on Tuesday.

Outfielder Starling Marte, who has been sidelined for two weeks due to a right knee bruise, will skip a minor league rehab assignment and return directly to the Mets' active roster. In a corresponding move, Jared Young has been optioned to Triple-A Syracuse.

This season, Marte has posted decent numbers through 58 games, slashing .270/.353/.387. He has also contributed four home runs and 20 RBIs. Remarkably, since June 5, he has been on fire, hitting .349/.391/.460 slugging percentage, which earned him opportunities to bat leadoff and in the heart of the lineup.

His return will likely impact the playing time of fellow contenders Mark Vientos, Ronny Mauricio and others vying for designated hitter roles.

With Marte back in the fold, the Mets are poised to build on their comeback victory from Monday night as they face the Angels in the second game of the series. The win marked the Mets' second consecutive triumph, halting a four-game losing streak and leaving them just a half-game behind the Philadelphia Phillies in the National League East standings.
