Mets' Brandon Nimmo rated the worst defensive center fielder in MLB

Brandon Nimmo of the New York Mets is rated the worst defensive center fielder in all of MLB by Baseball Savant/Statcast.

The outlet has Nimmo, 27, at minus-three in outs above average, tied with Mike Yastrzemski of the San Francisco Giants at the position. Nimmo holds an 82% success rate and one error on the year, per the league's official website.

As Danny Abriano of SNY noted, Nimmo is not a natural center fielder and has been playing out of position because the Mets lack options. Abriano added:

"Part of Nimmo's issue this season has been taking bad routes, especially when going back on fly balls, and the Mets are going to need to seriously consider not having him in center much in 2021."

The Mets can hold Nimmo's rights through at least the 2022 campaign.

Nimmo is batting .258 with six home runs, 12 RBI, seven doubles and 36 strikeouts in 43 games played. He found himself in headlines in July when he made controversial comments about wearing masks amid the coronavirus pandemic.
