Mets’ Francisco Lindor Laughed With Alex Cora at Breakfast About Walker Buehler

In the second game of the Boston Red Sox's series against the New York Mets, Red Sox starting pitcher Walker Buehler got ejected from the game after arguing a pitch was a strike despite the umpire ruling otherwise. Shortly after Buehler was ejected, Red Sox manager Alex Cora was also ejected.

The two got ejected following a series of events, starting with Francisco Lindor getting hit by a pitch and Buehler believing Lindor leaned into it. Juan Soto came to the plate, and on the second pitch of the at-bat, Buehler threw a pitch right down the middle as Lindor was trying to steal second.

Home plate umpire Mike Estabrook ruled the pitch a ball, despite it being a strike. Buehler and Estabrook went after it, leading to the ejection of both Buehler and Cora.

On WEEI Afternoons, Cora revealed that he and Lindor had breakfast the following morning, and laughed together amid the wild sequence that led to the ejection of Cora and Buehler.

Cora said, "We had breakfast this morning, and I saw the clip of him [Lindor] going 'throw him out, throw him out,' and then they threw him [Buehler] out, but then Trevor [Story] told me that after Walker got thrown out, Lindor was doing the same thing with me like, 'throw Alex out, throw Alex out,'... Francisco didn't tell me that this morning, but it's all fun and games, man."

Lindor and Cora are friends with each other, and meeting for breakfast during the brief time they're in the same city isn't strange. But, the incident that happened the night before, with Cora getting thrown out, partially due to Lindor, drew laughs from the two during their breakfast.

The ejection of Cora and Buehler happened early in the game, but the Red Sox bullpen came in and went the remaining 6.2 innings without allowing a run. It was a clutch performance from the bullpen, right as the Red Sox needed it.

Due to Lindor's actions at the plate, and on the base-paths, his friend in Cora got ejected. After the game, and the next morning, the two met up and joked with each other about the ejection of Buehler, and Cora's subsequent ejection right after.

The two friends will face off one more time before the Mets head out of Boston head back home to New York. With the Red Sox not scheduled to face the Mets again in 2025, Cora and Lindor got to hang out with one another for the last time this season.
