Mets' Jacob deGrom 'definitely' rooting for Francisco Lindor, Michael Conforto extensions

The New York Mets are working on extensions for star shortstop Francisco Lindor and outfielder Michael Conforto. Both players have received initial offers from the Mets, but neither is in any rush to get a deal done.

The Mets would highly benefit from having Lindor and Conforto on board for years to come, and star pitcher Jacob deGrom is rooting for both players to ink extensions with the franchise.

Conforto has spent his entire career with the Mets, slashing .259/.358/.484 with 118 home runs and 341 RBI in six seasons. He was named an All-Star in 2017.

Lindor, meanwhile, was acquired by the Mets from the Cleveland Indians during the offseason. He's entering his first season in New York and has already become a fan-favorite. In 10 spring training games, he's slashing .310/.375/.517 with two home runs and seven RBI.

The Mets reportedly offered Lindor a deal worth slightly less than $300 million. However, they are reportedly willing to bump up their offer in order to retain the two-time Gold Glover.

If Lindor wants a similar deal to that of Fernando Tatis Jr., who signed a $340 million contract with the San Diego Padres, things could get difficult for the Mets in the coming months as they continue negotiations.

It's unclear how much the Mets offered Conforto.
