The first Subway Series of the 2025 season is almost here, as the New York Yankees will play host to the New York Mets on Friday, May 16.
This, of course, will be a prime opportunity for Yankees fans to boo Juan Soto for taking the Mets' money and leaving in free agency.
With that in mind, does Soto expect boos at Yankee Stadium? The $765 million man had a clear message for his former fan base ahead of the crosstown clash.
"Juan Soto says he's excited for his first Subway Series as a member of the Mets at Yankee Stadium," MLB.com Mets beat writer Anthony DiComo reported on the evening of May 14.
"What is [he] most excited for?" DiComo continued the post, relaying Soto's two-word response: "The crowd."

What is the most excited for? "The crowd."
Even if they boo? "I don't mind."
It didn't end there. Per DiComo, a follow-up question asked Soto if he'd still be excited for the Yankee Stadium crowd, "even if they boo?"
To which Soto simply responded: "I don't mind."
If the Bronx wasn't already set up to be a powder keg on Friday night, it certainly is now.
Similar to his confident presence at the plate, Soto isn't backing down from his offseason decision. Instead, he intends to not only face the music but welcome it, and potentially, rise above it.
The Yankees and Mets are both playing at the top of their game so far in 2025, leading the AL and NL East divisions with records of 25-18 and 28-16, respectively.
The Mets are expected to start Tylor Megill on Friday night, with the Yankees sending Carlos Rodon to the mound. The latter would presumably face off against Soto during his first at-bat at Yankee Stadium since ditching the Pinstripes.
