The New York Mets, who started the season strong and still hold a solid 46–32 record, have recently hit a rough patch.
Their latest loss came Sunday night against the Philadelphia Phillies, capping off a difficult two-week stretch in which they’ve dropped eight of their last nine games. That span includes being swept by both the Tampa Bay Rays and Atlanta Braves, followed by a series loss to the Phillies over the weekend.
Now, as they gear up for a pivotal four-game home series against the Braves starting Monday night at Citi Field, the Mets shared a major update featuring three of their biggest stars: Francisco Lindor, Pete Alonso, and Juan Soto.
With the latest MLB All-Star ballot update released this week, Lindor currently leads all shortstops in votes, while Alonso sits at No. 2 among first basemen—putting both firmly in position for All-Star selections. Meanwhile, Soto ranks No. 5 among outfielders, keeping him within striking distance of a spot as well.
This season, Francisco Lindor is batting .270 with 16 home runs, 42 RBIs, and an .816 OPS. He currently leads Mookie Betts of the Los Angeles Dodgers and Elly De La Cruz of the Cincinnati Reds in All-Star voting at the shortstop position.
Pete Alonso, who trails only Freddie Freeman of the Dodgers among first basemen, is hitting .290 with 18 home runs, 64 RBIs, and a .941 OPS—showcasing one of his strongest all-around seasons to date.
Juan Soto, who signed the largest professional contract in American sports history this offseason with the Mets—a 15-year megadeal—is heating up after a slow start to his 2024 campaign. He’s currently batting .255 with 16 home runs and 41 RBIs, including a four-hit, two-home run performance against the Phillies on Saturday.
