The New York Mets lost ace Kodai Senga in Thursday's win over the Washington Nationals, but have already brought in some reinforcements.

Senga was hurt in the sixth inning of the 4-3 win when he ran to cover first base on a ground ball and fielded a high throw from first baseman Pete Alonso. Senga came down awkwardly after making the out, leaving the game.

Mets manager Carlos Mendoza announced after the game that Senga would be headed to the 15-day injured list, but couldn't predict how much longer he may be out.

“It’s hard for me to speculate, but obviously we know he’s going to be down,” Mendoza said. “As soon as he goes down like that, he grabs the hamstring -- we saw it last year, unfortunately. But we’ve got to wait till tomorrow and see what we’re dealing with here.”

While it won't be easy for the Mets to replace their top pitcher in the starting rotation, the team did bring in some help. Immediately after the game, multiple reports claimed the Mets are calling up right-handed pitcher Max Kranick from the minors.

Kranick had a strong stint with the Mets early this season, recording a 2.65 ERA in March and April before being optioned to Triple-A Syracuse after some struggles in May.

Senga struggled with injuries last season, missing the first half of the year with a shoulder strain and hurting his calf in his first game back. Senga was able to return in the playoffs, starting with Game 1 of the NLDS against the Philadelphia Phillies.
