The New York Mets took the field on Friday for their home opener at Citi Field. Before the first pitch was thrown out, the fans in Queens were treated to a beautiful rendition of "The Star-Spangled Banner."

Lissa deGuzman was invited to Citi Field to sing the national anthem this Friday. She's no stranger to the bright lights in New York. After all, she played the iconic character of Elphaba for Wicked on Broadway. It's also worth noting that she has performed in front of a packed crowd before.

During the 2024 postseason, the Mets invited deGuzman to Citi Field for Game 4 of the National League Division Series.

Unsurprisingly, deGuzman crushed her performance on Friday. She was so good that fans couldn't help but rave about her voice.

"Whoever the Broadway actress the Mets got to sing the Anthem for opening day needs to be the ceremonial singer for everything from now to eternity," one fan tweeted. "Phenomenal."

"Great Home Opener Ceremony for the Mets," another fan said.

There's a ton of hype surrounding the Mets this year simply because of Juan Soto. He signed a 15-year, $750 million deal with the ballclub this past offseason.

So far, the Mets are 3-3 on the season. On Wednesday afternoon, they defeated the Miami Marlins in an extra-innings thriller.

We'll see if the Mets give their fans something to cheer about this Friday at Citi Field.
