Francisco Lindor and the New York Mets have struggled mightily since mid-June, losing 14 of their last 17 games heading into Wednesday night. The Puerto Rican had been batting in the .280s for most of the first half of the season but has now dropped to .258.

Regardless, he’s still one of the best shortstops in the game. This season, his 16 home runs ranks second among shortstops in the National League, while his 86 hits ranks third.

On Wednesday, the MLB shared some All-Star Game news, revealing Lindor as the starting shortstop for the National League squad.

It didn’t take long for the Mets’ social media team to react to the news, congratulating the 31-year-old on his fifth All-Star nod with a post of their own.

"Francisco Lindor: ALL-STAR! Congratulations to @Lindor12BC on being named the NL starting shortstop for the 2025 All-Star Game!" the Mets wrote.

The rest of the National League starters include Dodgers catcher Will Smith, designated hitter Shohei Ohtani, first baseman Freddie Freeman, Diamondbacks second baseman Ketel Marte, Padres third baseman Manny Machado, Cubs outfielder Pete Crow-Armstrong, Astros outfielder Kyle Tucker and Braves outfielder Ronald Acuna Jr.

This marks Lindor’s first All-Star appearance since making four straight from 2016-19. Now in his 11th MLB season, the Mets shortstop began his career with Cleveland before being traded to New York in 2021.

Over the years, he’s earned two Gold Gloves four Silver Slugger awards and has been named to the All-MLB second team three times.
