The New York Mets desperately needed their offense to show up against a red-hot pitcher on Wednesday night, and that's exactly what happened. Milwaukee Brewers rookie Jacob Misiorowski had allowed just two runs over his first 16 big-league innings before allowing five runs in just 3.2 frames on Wednesday.
New York outfielder Brandon Nimmo opened the scoring with a 361-foot grand slam to right field in the second inning before star shortstop Francisco Lindor smacked a solo homer in the same frame. The Mets won 7-3, ending their four-game losing streak.
Nimmo mentioned two-time Cy Young Award winner Jacob deGrom when discussing Misiorowski's 96 miles-per-hour slider postgame, via SNY.
"Just with deGrom," he said when asked if he had ever faced that pitch before. "He has great stuff. I think he's going to be around for a long time."
"It definitely was good to get those runs early...We were able to wear on him a little bit, and then we were able to capitalize on it," he continued. "That's the way the game is up here. One pitch, one at-bat can be the difference."

Nimmo played with deGrom on the Mets from 2016-22 before the latter player signed a five-year, $185 million contract with the Texas Rangers in December 2022. The future Hall of Famer tore his UCL the following season, but the Rangers still won the World Series.
New York is now two games behind the Philadelphia Phillies atop the NL East. Next up is a rubber match with Milwaukee on Thursday night before hosting the New York Yankees over the weekend.
