New York Mets veteran reliever AJ Minter has been battling back from an injury. Minter previously landed on the injured list with a triceps injury. According to Anthony DiComo of MLB.com, Minter has been pulled off his rehab assignment due to an injury setback. However, DiComo noted that the setback is not major.

“News: the Mets pulled A.J. Minter off his rehab assignment due to left hip discomfort. Not a major setback, but Minter’s return is no longer imminent. He’ll get a fresh 30-day rehab clock once he’s ready to pitch again,” DiComo reported.

It is not an ideal update, but at least Minter did not suffer a serious injury setback.

Minter, 32, began his career with the Atlanta Braves. He established himself as one of the better left-handed relievers in the sport during his time in Atlanta. After pitching with the Braves from 2017-2024, Minter joined the Mets in 2025. He was limited to only 13 appearances last season, but he did record an impressive 1.64 ERA during that span.

The veteran southpaw has yet to appear in a game so far during the 2026 campaign. He could still be an effective pitcher out of the bullpen once he returns. This Mets ball club could certainly use the help.

New York is currently one of the worst teams in baseball with a 13-22 record. The ball club trails the Atlanta Braves by 11.5 games in the National League East standings as of this story’s writing. The Mets are hoping to get back on track as soon as possible.
