Michael Grove Optioned, Zach Logue Called Up

The Los Angeles Dodgers optioned Michael Grove to Triple-A Oklahoma City and selected the contract of Zach Logue. It was part of two roster moves they made Wednesday, with Joe Kelly coming off the injured list and Bobby Miller getting optioned.

Tyler Glasnow was transferred to the 60-day injured list in order to make room for Logue on Dodgers’ 40-man roster. Glasnow already had been ruled out for the year because of a right elbow sprain.

Grove is among the Dodgers pitchers who has been injured this season, as he just returned last month from a right intercostal strain. He is 4-4 with a 5.12 ERA and 1.22 WHIP across 39 games (two starts) this year.

During his time with Oklahoma City, Grove has gone 1-0 with a 1.74 ERA in nine appearances.

Despite the Dodgers dealing with a rash of injuries throughout the year, Grove hasn’t necessarily been relied upon as a key contributor but rather pitching depth.

Zach Logue can make Dodgers history

Logue is up with the Dodgers one week after he was signed to a Minor League contract. That came after being designated for assignment by the Atlanta Braves.

Logue last pitched in the Majors for the Detroit Tigers in 2023, and he appeared in 14 games (10 starts) for the Oakland Athletics the year prior. He’s a combined 3-8 with a 6.88 ERA in 17 games (10 starts) at the Major League level.

In his only appearance for the Oklahoma City Baseball Club thus far, Logue allowed one run over three innings on Sept. 12.

Should the 28-year-old appear in a game at any point, Logue will help the Dodgers tie a franchise record for most pitchers used in a single season at 39. The 2021 and 2023 Dodgers currently share the record.
