Miguel Andujar Clears Waivers; Accepts Outright Assignment

PITTSBURGH — Miguel Andujar has cleared waivers and has been outrighted to Triple-A Indianapolis after accepting an assignment. The 28-year-old had been designated for assignment on May 19.

Andujar appeared in 13 games for the Pirates this season after his contract was selected at the end of April. He hit .161 with a .599 OPS, two home runs and six RBIs.

The Pirates originally claimed Andujar off waivers from the New York Yankees at the end of last season. He appeared in nine games with Pittsburgh to end the 2022 campaign.

While with the Yankees, Andujar finished second in the 2018 American Rookie of the Year race behind Los Angeles Angels two-way star Shohei Ohtani.

Andujar will head back to Indianapolis, where he started the 2023 season. In 23 games, with the Indians and recorded 12 extra-base hits.
