It’s safe to say that Miguel Cabrera has reached the latter stages of his legendary career.
The Detroit Tigers slugger is signed through the 2023 season.
This past season, the 39-year-old picked up his 300th career hit.
In July, Cabrera was selected to the American League All-Star squad as the American League’s “legends player.”
With his contract set to potentially expire at the end of next season, the end of the future Hall-of-Famer’s career will soon be upon us.
But even though next season will be the last one for Cabrera as a player, it won’t be his last in baseball.
The former MVP and Triple Crown winner recently expressed a desire to remain involved in the game of baseball after his retirement and even potentially be a mentor for younger players in the Tigers organization.
Miguel Cabrera also said he'd like to stay involved in Tigers organization and help young players once his own playing career is over.
"I have time to decide, but my goal is to stay in baseball, try to help, because I love baseball," he said.

Miggy’s Post-Retirement Plans
The Tigers would certainly benefit from having Cabrera around after his retirement.
Cabrera is a two-time Most Valuable Player, a 12-time All-Star, a four-time batting champion, and a seven-time Silver Slugger.
The veteran slugger’s resume speaks for itself.
So to have somebody of his caliber around the organization after he retires would be very beneficial for the Tigers and their core of young players.
Cabrera has played the bulk of his career in a Tigers uniform after being traded over from the Miami Marlins prior to the 2008 season.
There’s no doubt that he is a fan favorite in Detroit and will always be appreciated and loved by Tigers fans.
But even with 2023 being his last season as a player, his baseball career is far from over.
