Mike Trout's surprise triple nearly made MLB history

Trout is no stranger to making history and he almost did it again with his unique triple.

Still, the one hit by Reynolds takes the cake as the softest one ever hit.

But it’s still interesting to see a guy hit a triple on a check swing.

We’ve seen two players already this year hit some extremely soft triples.

Seeing one is rare.

Seeing two is unprecedented, especially when one of them comes from Trout, one of the best power hitters of this generation.

But a triple on a check swing is something that likely will never be seen again in baseball.

It just doesn’t happen.

The fact that it didn’t make history as the softest triple ever hit is also quite surprising.

It still came off the bat at 57.4 mph.

It would have been something if it was even softer.

Then Trout really would have made some impressive history.

Baseball is a wild and crazy game.

You just never know what’s going to come next.

Maybe next time we see an inside the park home run on a bunt.
