The Milwaukee Brewers are set to take on the Chicago White Sox in their first series of the 2026 Major League Baseball season. After weeks of Spring Training, players have been assigned to the Major League team or sent to various levels of the minor leagues. Others, unfortunately, will open the year on the injured list.

Coming off of a 97-65 season in 2025, Milwaukee is hoping that 2026 will not only result in a fourth consecutive National League Central Division crown, but a World Series appearance and win.

On Wednesday, they announced their Opening Day roster.

While there were some roster projections and predictions even as recent as yesterday, Milwaukee’s surprise trade has made all of them inaccurate. That being said, here is the Brewers roster for Opening Day this year.

Catcher (2)

  • William Contreras
  • Gary Sanchez

First Base (2)

  • Andrew Vaughn
  • Jake Bauers

Second Base (1)

  • Brice Turang

Third Base (1)

  • Luis Rengifo

Shortstop (1)

  • Joey Ortiz

Utility (1)

  • David Hamilton

Designated Hitter (1)

  • Christian Yelich

Outfielders (4)

  • Jackson Chourio
  • Garrett Mitchell
  • Sal Frelick
  • Brandon Lockridge

Starting Pitchers (5)

  • Jacob Misiorowski
  • Chad Patrick
  • Brandon Sproat
  • Kyle Harrison
  • Brandon Woodruff

Relief Pitchers (8)

  • Jake Woodford
  • Abner Uribe
  • Angel Zerpa
  • Trevor Megill
  • DL Hall
  • Aaron Ashby
  • Grant Anderson
  • Jared Koenig

The addition of Woodford, a right-handed relief pitcher, was a surprise. Milwaukee traded for him yesterday in a deal with the Tampa Bay Rays (one of their frequent trade partners). The Brewers sent minor league pitcher KC Hunt to Tampa Bay to complete the deal.

It will be interesting to see how many of these players stick for the whole season. Fans may recall that, last year, Vinny Capra made the Opening Day roster after a hot spring. However, he never got it going early in the regular season and was eventually released from the organization all together.
