In 2021, the Milwaukee Brewers hired co-hitting coaches Ozzie Timmons and Connor Dawson. Last winter, Timmons departed, and since has signed with the Tampa Bay Rays, an organization he was with prior to coming to the Brewers.
More recently, Dawson, who spent the 2025 season working alongside Al LaBoef and Eric Theisen instead of Timmons, has elected to part ways and join the Kansas City Royals. Robert Murray first reported this news, but did not reveal what Dawson’s role will be.
Sources: The Kansas City Royals are hiring Connor Dawson to their coaching staff. Dawson, 32, was hired by the Milwaukee Brewers as hitting coach in Nov. 2021 and was previously the Mariners’ minor league hitting coordinator.

At age 32, Dawson is highly regarded as one of the young and bright minds in the game. Before serving as the Brewers co-hitting coach for the last four seasons, he was the Seattle Mariners minor league hitting coordinator. All of these are impressive feats for someone who is now in his early 30s.
For Dawson, this move brings him back home, as he is a Kansas City native. The Royals are seeking assistant hitting coaches, as earlier this offseason they expressed their confidence in Alec Zumwalt, and are keeping him on board as the lead.
