Minor League Report: Jace Bohrofen hit his second home run in three games, Dunedin has won three in a row, and more!

Jackson Hornung hit the other home run, his third of the season, which gave the Canadians a 6-0 lead at the time. Other players with an extra-base hit were Jommer Hernandez, Dasan Brown , and Bohrofen, who also had a double. As for multi-hit days, Bohrofen had one, as did Brown and Jaden Rudd, who had two singles.

Conor Larkin gave up two earned runs and two walks in two thirds of an inning pitched while striking out a batter. Josh Mollerus struck out three in his inning and a third pitched.

Dunedin has won three in a row

The Dunedin Blue Jays have finally started to string some wins together, as they defeated the Jupiter Hammerheads 8-6 on Friday to bring their record to 17-20. This was their third win in a row, and it was thanks to a five-run eighth inning.

Marcos De La Rosa hit the team’s only home run, his first of the season and his seventh of his career. The 22-year-old has been in the organization since 2019, but has never had more than 200 plate appearances. Other players with an extra-base hit were Daniel Pérez and Bryce Arnold, both hit doubles.

In terms of hits, because Dunedin had 11, Yhoangel Aponte, Manuel Beltre, and Pérez all had two-hit games, while Victor Arias, Edward Duran, Alexis Hernandez, De La Rosa, and Arnold all had one hit. Jean Joseph (who hit a home run on Thursday) was the only player without a hit, but he walked twice.

Fernando Pérez started the game and finished with a line of 5.2 IP, 5 H, 3 ER, 2 BB, 4 K falling just shy of the quality start and picking up a no decision. Bo Bonds was the first out of the bullpen, and struck out a batter in his inning and a third of work. Kai Peterson picked up the win, but finished with a line of 1 IP, 2 H, 3 ER, 3 BB, 2 K to bring his season ERA to 6. J.J. Sanchez picked up the save, pitching a clean inning.

FCL Jays lose again

With the 4-3 loss to the FCL Tigers, the Florida Complex League Blue Jays’ record now sits at 3-6, fourth in the FCL North division.

Canadian Sam Shaw has been impressive this season, as he went 1-4 with two strikeouts and his second home run of the season. The knock on him has always been the lack of power, but he has now hit two in 38 plate appearances. Maykel Minoso had a double and a triple and finished with three of the FCL Jays’ six hits, while Carlos Vasquez and Faruk De La Cruz both had singles.

Samuel Colmenares had the start for the FCL Jays, finishing with a line of 4.2 IP, 2 H, 2 ER, 4 BB, 2 K with a home run surrendered in his second start of the game. Carlos Meza struck out two and allowed four hits, but didn’t allow an earned run in his 2.1 innings pitched. Luis Torres was tagged with the loss and blown save, giving up two earned runs in an inning and two thirds pitched.
