There was a whole lot of action in the Blue Jays organization on Tuesday.

Sadly for the organization, there weren’t a whole lot of wins though, as the teams went 2-4 on the day. Moreover, we’ll take a look at Monday’s Florida Complex League action as well.

Buffalo lost series opener 3-1

It was a low event game on Tuesday, as the Buffalo Bisons fell 3-1 to the St. Paul Saints (Minnesota), bringing their record to 25-21, good enough for third in the International League East.

The play of the day came from Orelvis Martinez, who hit his 11th home run of the season for Buffalo’s only run, as well as their only extra-base hit. Other players with a hit were Nathan Lukes, Addison Barger, Rafael Lantigua, and Cam Eden.

Yariel Rodríguez made his first rehab appearance, throwing 16 pitches while giving up an unearned run in a third of an inning. Beau Sulser was tagged with the loss, as he gave up two earned runs, both on home runs, while striking out two in four innings and a third. Hayden Juenger struck out three in two innings of work.

Brendon Little struck out two in an inning and a third to bring his season ERA to 3.52, while Hagen Danner walked two batters and struck out a batter in an inning of work.

New Hampshire blew out the Yankees affiliate

One of just two wins on Tuesday, the New Hampshire Fisher Cats defeated the Somerset Patriots 10-2, bringing their record to 17-22. This moved them to fifth in the Eastern League Northeast division.

Alan Roden had a whale of a game, hitting two home runs, matching the total he had in 209 plate appearances with the Fisher Cats last season in just 152 plate appearances this season. On top of the two home runs, Roden also had two singles.

He wasn’t the only home run hitter on Tuesday, as Gabriel Martinez hit his third home run of the season, while Garrett Spain hit his seventh home run of the season. On top of that, Devonte Brown, Josh Kasevich, Zach Britton, and Martinez had doubles, with the last three having multi-hit games.

Adam Macko made the start for the Fisher Cats, finishing with a line of 5 IP, 2 H, 1 ER, 3 BB, 6 K to bring his season ERA to 4.03. Hunter Gregory was the first out of the pen, giving up an earned run in two innings of work, while Ian Churchill struck out a batter in his inning of work. Last out of the pen was Adrián Hernández, who also struck out a batter in one inning. Hernández’s ERA now sits at 2.92.

Vancouver shutout

The Vancouver Canadians’ losing streak has now hit four games, as they fell 4-0 to the Hillsboro Hops to bring their record to 16-20.

There were just four hits on the day for Vancouver – all singles – as Jean Arnaez, Jace Bohrofen, Dasan Brown, and Glenn Santiago had the team’s four base hits. On top of that, Jaden Rudd picked up the team’s only walk in what was a poor offensive performance from the team.

Pat Gallagher made the start for the Canadians, and finished with a line of 3.2 IP, 5 H, 2 ER (3 R), 2 BB, 3 K to bring his season ERA to 4.22. Grayson Thurman was the first out of the bullpen, as he struck out two in a clean inning and a third of work. Chay Yeager struck out a batter, but gave up an earned run in two innings, while Conor Larkin pitched a clean inning to end the game.

Dunedin won sixth straight game

It’s been a season of streaks for the Dunedin Blue Jays this season, as they had a lengthy losing streak, but are now on a six-game winning streak, as they defeated the Bradenton Marauders 6-4 to move to 20-20 on the season.

Cristian Feliz once again hit a home run, his seventh this season. Despite the obvious power, the .174/.273/.391 slash line with a 43.9 K% is problematic, but there’s still time to iron that out as the first baseman is only 21.

Moreover, Manuel Beltre, Jean Joseph, and Edward Duran had doubles, with the latter hitting two of them. Tucker Toman also hit his first triple of the season. All four players had a multi-hit game, with Duran finishing with three hits. The other player with a hit was Yhoangel Aponte.

Canadian Connor O’Halloran had the start for Dunedin, finishing with a line of 5 IP, 4 H, 1 ER, 2 BB, 6 K with a home run given up to bring his season ERA to 3.13. Fellow 2023 draftee Bo Bonds pitched in relief, giving up two earned runs while striking out two in an inning and a third.

J.J. Sanchez struck out three batters while giving up an earned run in an inning and a third worked, while Keiner Leon struck out four batters for all of his outs in an inning and a third pitched. It’s pretty funny how all relievers had an inning and a third worked in this game.

FCL Blue Jays lost both games of the doubleheader 7-2

We’ll cover three games here, the two games that ended 7-2 against the FCL Phillies on Tuesday, as well as the FCL Jays’ 8-1 loss on Monday. Let’s start with the most recent games.

In game one of the double header, the FCL Jays had just four hits, with Luis Meza finishing with two singles and a walk, while the rehabbing Peyton Williams had a single and two walks. Kendry Chirinos had a single as well.

As for pitching in this game, Daniel Guerra had a rough day at the office, finishing with a line of 4 IP, 8 H, 7 ER, 2 BB, 4 K to bring his season ERA to 12.86. Juan Nunez struck out a batter and allowed four base runners in two scoreless innings, while Julio Ortiz struck out a batter in  a clean inning of work.

The second game of the doubleheader finished with the same score, and like the first game, the FCL Jays had just singles, three this  time. Daniel Guzmán, Carlos Vasquez, and Gregori Cano had the three singles. Sam Shaw walked twice, with Guzmán, Vasquez, and Aneudi Escanio picking up the other three walks.

Frankly Urena started the game for the Jays, finishing with a line of 3 IP, 4 H, 3 ER, 1 BB, 1 K with two home runs given up. First out of the bullpen was Raudy Gomez, who gave up an unearned run and two walks in two innings pitched. Carlos Meza had a rough game, giving up two earned runs (three total runs) while striking out two in his inning of work.

And finally, we’ll take a look at the 8-1 loss to the FCL Yankees on Monday. Like the two games that came the following day, the FCL Jays hit singles and had under five hits. This time, Sam Shaw and Railin Tejada both had two singles, which made up the Blue Jays’ hits. Daniel Guzmán and Carlos Vasquez each had a walk, while Enmanuel Bonilla and Peyton Williams reached via a hit by pitch.

Despite the loss, it was a great start from Jorge Bautista, who finished with a line of 6 IP, 1 H, 0 ER (1 R), 4 BB, 5 K to maintain a 0 ERA. it is worth noting that as a 23-year-old, he’s rather old for the level. Lluveres Severino had a rough outing, giving up four earned runs in an inning pitched. Evan Elliott didn’t fare much better, giving up three earned runs and four walks in an inning and a third. Knuckleballer Ryan Chasse struck out a batter in his two thirds of an inning pitched.
