Minor-league report: Reilly's strong start sets tone for Greensboro

A look at Friday’s minor-league action within the Pirates' system ...

INDIANAPOLIS (22-24) lost at Iowa, 12-0 . Iowa tagged Indianapolis pitching for 16 hits while the Indians' offense mustered just four hits. Gilberto Celestino had two of those hits. Henry Davis had a double.

Wily Peralta and Connor Sadzeck combined to allow nine runs (six earned) on 10 hits in four innings of relief.

ALTOONA (13-20) won at Erie, 8-3 . Seth Beer and Carter Bins each hit two-run home runs.

Beer added an RBI single to tie the game at 3 in the sixth inning. He is now hitting .309 with an .825 OPS for Altoona.

Thomas Harrington allowed three runs on seven hits in 4 2/3 innings of work, but Eddy Yean retired all seven batters he faced in relief of Harrington.

GREENSBORO (25-18) shut out Greenville, 5-0 . Greensboro pitching limited Greenville to one hit. Patrick Reilly struck out seven and walked three in five innings. Ryan Harbin allowed a single in the seventh for Greenville's lone hit. Elijah Birdsong pitched two perfect innings of relief to close the game.

The Grasshoppers scored three runs in the second inning on home runs by Maikol Escotto and Shawn Ross.

Nick Cimillo hit a solo home run in the seventh. 

BRADENTON (20-23) beat Dunedin, 4-3. The Marauders pulled ahead in the eighth inning on Esmerlyn Valdez's three-run home run.

Shalin Polanco hit a solo homer to spark the Bradenton offense in the seventh.
