Minor League Report: The Eric Pardinho Revenge tour continues

Aaron Sanchez had another rough start for the Bisons, finishing with a line of 3.1 IP, 7 H, 4 ER (5 R), 2 BB, 2 K to bring his season ERA to 13.50. Brendon Little struck out a batter in his inning of work, while Chad Green allowed a hit in a scoreless rehab assignment.

It was a rough day for Connor Cooke, who gave up two earned runs and struck out two in his inning and two thirds pitched. Hagen Danner struck out two and allowed a hit in an inning and a third of work.

New Hampshire fell 5-3 with two late runs

Like Buffalo, the New Hampshire Fisher Cats didn’t register an extra base hit, and fell 5-3 to the Somerset Patriots to move their record to 19-25, fifth in the Eastern League Northeast division.

Michael Turconi and Phil Clarke both had multi-hit games, while Miguel Hiraldo, Josh Kasevich, and Alan Roden had one single apiece. Roden also walked twice, while Turconi, Clarke, Alex De Jesus, and Gabriel Martinez walked once.

Devereaux Harrison made the start for New Hampshire, and finished with a line of 5 IP, 5 H, 3 ER, 2 BB, 5 K to bring his season ERA to 4.91. Trevor Clifton was tagged with the loss, giving up two earned runs in two innings pitched. It wasn’t a clean two innings for Eric Pardinho, but he struck out three and walked two to bring his season ERA to 1.45. 

Since April 24, Pardinho has pitched 14 innings giving up no earned runs with a 42.9 K% and an 8.2 BB% for a 1.23 FIP.

Vancouver won two in a row

The Vancouver Canadians also had no extra-base hits, but they were able to defeat the Hillsboro Hops 2-1 in extra innings to win their second consecutive game. Their record now sits at 18-22.

Ryan McCarty, Nick Goodwin, and Jommer Hernandez had the base hits for the Canadians, all singles. McCarty and Goodwin both walked twice, while Dasan Brown and Jamari Baylor each walked once.

Rafael Sánchez had a good start for the Canadians, as he finished with a line of 6 IP, 5 H, 1 ER, 0 BB, 6 K for his first quality start of the season. Anders Tolhurst pitched two clean innings with two strikeouts, while Josh Mollerus had two walks and strikeouts in two innings.

Dunedin ended their losing streak

The Dunedin Blue Jays had a three-game losing streak on the go heading into Saturday’s game, but defeated the Bradenton Marauders 6-3 to move their season record to 21-23.

This game had the team’s first extra-base hit, as Alexis Hernandez hit his second home run in as many games, which gave Dunedin a 1-0 lead in the top of the second. On top of that, Victor Arias and Hernandez had doubles as well.

In fact, it was the Hernandez show, as he went 4-5 with 3 RBI, making up half of the team’s hits. Cristian Feliz, Daniel Pérez, and Marcos De La Rosa all had singles in the evening as well.

As for pitching, Nolan Perry finished with a line of 2 IP, 4 H, 0 ER (3 R), 4 BB, 3 K, but his ERA dropped to 1 as an error by Perry himself led to the runs being unearned. Juanmi Vasquez pitched 3.2 innings and struck out five while walking three to bring his season ERA to 0.93.

Bo Bonds threw a third of an inning, while Irv Carter struck out three in two innings of work. J.J. Sanchez picked up the save, walking a batter in his scoreless ninth inning.

FCL Jays still can’t win games

Another low-hit affair, the Florida Complex League Blue Jays fell 7-2 to the FCL Tigers, bringing their season record to 4-12. Believe it or not, the game was tied at two after nine innings, but the Tigers were able to score five runs in the top of the 10th.

Like the Dunedin Blue Jays, the FCL Jays had an extra-base hit, as Yeuni Munoz drove in both runs with his first double of the season. Other players with a hit were Sam Shaw, Gregori Cano, Carlos Vasquez, and Adrian Meza, while Peyton Williams walked twice.

Cristopher Castro made the start for the FCL Jays, finishing with a line of 4 IP, 2 H, 2 ER, 4 BB, 4 K to bring his season ERA to 3.46. Carlos Meza was the first out of the bullpen, striking out two in his three innings of work, while Juan Nunez struck out four but walked three and allowed three hits in two innings of work.

The loss was tagged to Julio Ortiz, who gave up five runs, four of them earned, in two thirds of an inning pitched. Evan Elliott finished out the game, giving up two walks and striking out a batter in his third of an inning.
