It was a winning day for the Blue Jays organization on Thursday.

Of the six games the Blue Jays affiliates played, four games were won while two were lost. Well, not really, as the Buffalo Bisons finished Wednesday’s suspended game, but we covered that in the last Minor League Report.

With that being said, let’s take a look at this edition of the Minor League Report!

Buffalo won, splitting the doubleheader

After getting embarrassed 18-3 in the first game, the Buffalo Bisons came back and defeated the St. Paul Saints 5-1 to bring their record to 26-22.

It was the Orelvis Martinez show once again for Toronto, as the 22-year-old infielder hit his organization-leading 12th home run of the season, while also hitting his ninth double. Spencer Horwitz, Riley Tirotta, Rafael Lantigua, and Addison Barger all had a single, while the latter walked twice.

Pitching had success too, as Andrew Bash started the game and finished with a line of 4.2 IP, 5 H, 1 ER, 2 BB, 4 K to move his season ERA to 4.11. He narrowly missed out on picking up the win. Joel Kuhnel pitched an inning and a third of scoreless baseball, while Mason Fluharty struck out a batter in his clean inning.

New Hampshire sweeps their doubleheader

The New Hampshire Fisher Cats won the first game of their doubleheader 5-4 in extra innings (ninth inning).

No home runs were hit for the team, but there were a boatload of doubles as Michael Turconi, Gabriel Martinez, Josh Kasevich, and Phil Clarke all had two-baggers. The last two also had two singles, while Alex De Jesus had two singles as well.

Trenton Wallace had another quality start, finishing with a line of 6 IP, 6 H, 3 ER, 2 BB, 5 K with two home runs given up to move his season ERA to 2.39. Unfortunately, he was placed on the 7-day Injured List after this game. Eric Pardinho pitched two innings, giving up a hit and an unearned run, but striking out three batters, while Ryan Boyers struck out two in a clean inning of work.

The second game was a lot less close, as the Fisher Cats defeated the Somerset Patriots 9-0 to move their season record to 19-23.

Rainer Nuñez hit the only home run of the game, his second of the season. But once again, New Hampshire hit a ton of doubles as Miguel Hiraldo, Garrett Spain, Alex De Jesus , and Michael Turconi all finished with an extra-base hit. Turconi, Hiraldo Alan Roden, and Devonte Brown had multi-hit games, with Brown walking twice.

Nick Fraze made the start for the Fisher Cats, walking a batter, allowing two hits, and striking a batter out in three innings of work. Ian Churchill gave up three walks and a strikeout in two thirds of an inning, while Abdiel Mendoza struck out two in 2.1 innings. Jimmy Burnette struck out two in an inning to move his season ERA to 1.69.

Vancouver shutout again, on a six game losing streak

Woof, it was a rough go of things for the Vancouver Canadians on Thursday, as they were shutout 2-0, generating just one hit. The good news is that they narrowly avoided the shutout.

Heading into the top of the sixth, the Canadians were getting no-hit, that was until Estiven Machado hit a single to break up that bid. The only other time the Jays reached base was when Glenn Santiago drew a walk.

With that being said, pitching was great for the Canadians, as they allowed just three hits. Ryan Jennings made the start for Vancouver, finishing with a line of 6 IP, 3 H, 1 ER, 0 BB, 6 K to bring his season ERA to 2.59.

The bullpen wasn’t bad either, Josh Mollerus allowed an earned run as the first two batters reached with a walk and a hit by pitch, before a sac bunt and a sac fly scored a runner. Anders Tolhurst struck out two in a clean inning of work to bring his season ERA to 2.45.

Dunedin has lost two in a row

Wednesday saw Dunedin’s six-game win streak come to an end. Well, their losing streak extended to two games with a 6-3 loss to the Bradenton Marauders on Thursday.

Like the Orelvis Martinez show in Buffalo, it was the Cristian Feliz show for the D-Jays, as he hit his eighth home run of the season with his fifth double of the year, accounting for both extra-base hits. Other players with a hit were Tucker Toman, and Victor Arias.

Grant Rogers made the start for Dunedin, finishing with a line of 5 IP, 4 H, 3 ER, 2 BB, 5 K to bring his season ERA to 4.33. Sebastian Espino was tagged with the loss, finishing with a line of 1 IP, 1 H, 1 ER (2 R)), 1 BB, 2 K to bring his season ERA to 6.08. Aaron Munson gave up three hits, an unearned run, but struck out two in his two innings of work.

FCL Jays end their losing streak

It was a hit fest for the Florida Complex League Blue Jays, as they defeated the FCL Phillies 8-2 to bring their season record to 4-10.

No home runs were hit in this game, but Peyton Williams hit two doubles, while Enmanuel Bonilla hit one double and Kendry Chirinos hit a triple. Williams had three hits on the day, while Bonilla, David Guzmán, and Adrian Meza all had multi-hit games. Maykel Minoso, and Luis Meza also had singles.

Eminen Flores made the start for the F-Jays, finishing with a line of 4 IP, 3 H, 2 ER, 4 BB, 5 K to bring his season ERA to 1.88. Luis Torres was the first out of the bullpen, pitching two innings with a walk and a strikeout. Felipe Bello allowed a hit in his scoreless inning.
