The New York Yankees made the first of many major moves to come at the trade deadline last night, when they acquired outfielder Andrew Benintendi from the Kansas City Royals.

Three prospects will be going back to Kansas City from the Yankees’ system.

The Yankees have now added the big bat they were looking for.

This almost certainly means that Joey Gallo is going to be traded.

The 28-year-old slugger has hit 12 home runs, but is hitting for a measly .161 average and has driven in just 24 runs.

MLB insider Mike Petriello commented on the trade and Gallo’s status on Twitter, echoing the sentiments of most, that Gallo is increasingly likely to be traded.

Where Will Gallo Land?

Benintendi is certainly an upgrade over Gallo.

While he’s only hit three home runs, he is hitting for a very impressive .320 mark and has driven in 39 runs.

He’ll certainly provide the Yankees with a bit of an offensive boost as they look to separate themselves from the rest of the pack.

As for Gallo, there’s no telling where he’ll ultimately end up, but one can only assume that he’s on his way out the door with the arrival of Benintendi.

He hasn’t had much success during his tenure with the Yankees, at least not the kind of success he was having with the Texas Rangers.

There are plenty of teams who could use Gallo’s services, that is, if he can get hot again.

He does still possess a powerful bat that can fit in the middle of a lineup.

Surely there will be some takers for Gallo.

Perhaps just a change of scenery could benefit him.

The trade deadline is Tuesday at 6 p.m. Eastern Time.

We’ll see where Gallo ends up.
