MLB Announces 60-Game Suspension for Recent Cubs Signing

With many blockbuster moves, early controversy, and much more, there's been plenty to talk about around Major League Baseball.

That only added on Tuesday, when Major League Baseball announced that Chicago Cubs minor leaguer Anhuar Garcia will be suspended for 60 games under the minor league drug program following a positive test for performance-enhancing drugs, according to ESPN.

"Chicago Cubs pitcher Anhuar Garcia was suspended for 60 games Tuesday by Major League Baseball under the minor league drug program following a positive test for the performance-enhancing substance Methenolone.

"A 21-year-old right-hander, Garcia was 1-3 with a 5.91 ERA in six starts and one relief appearance this year for the Arizona Complex League Cubs," ESPN wrote.

The youngster was signed to the Cubs on Dec. 15 on a $10,000 signing bonus and is the seventh player suspended this year for a positive test, according to ESPN.

It's always tough to get a feel for when players get suspended, especially international players. However, ultimately, these guys have to understand what they're putting in their bodies, as Major League Baseball will find out if they're doing something they shouldn't be.

The early return on Garcia hasn't been ideal with his 5.91 ERA, but he's struck out 35 hitters in 32.0 innings, showing some promising strikeout stuff.

Hopefully, for Garcia and the Cubs, this will be a one-time thing, and he can return to throwing the baseball at a high level, perhaps in Chicago, one day.

For now, however, the Cubs will have to be without him in the minors.
