Despite scoring 32 runs during a three-game span last week, the Milwaukee Brewers (8-8) couldn't make up any ground on the NL Central-leading Chicago Cubs (11-7).

They did, though, get some quality offensive contributions from two of their stars, outfielder Jackson Chourio and All-Star catcher William Contreras, who are beginning to heat up.

Over his last six games, Contreras hit .391 (9-for-23) with three home runs, 10 RBIs, six runs scored and a pair of doubles.

Contreras finished fifth in NL MVP voting a year ago after hitting .281 with a career-best 23 home runs, 92 RBIs, 78 walks, 99 runs scored and nine stolen bases.

For his efforts in recent days, MLB announced Monday that Contreras was named the National League Player of the Week.

The Brewers star was joined by the American League winner, Ty France of the Minnesota Twins, who batted .440 with two homers and six RBIs himself.

Fifteen games into his sixth season, the 27-year-old Contreras is hitting only .222 but is beginning to heat up at the plate. His teammate, Chourio, also had a big week with two homers, eight RBIs and his first stolen base of the 2025 season.

Milwaukee and its dynamic duo will be back in action against the Detroit Tigers on Monday to open a six-game homestand.
