MLB on Friday announced the punishments that are being doled out to the Los Angeles Dodgers and San Diego Padres for Thursday’s fight between the teams.

The Dodgers hit Fernando Tatis Jr. with a pitch in the top of the 9th inning of the team’s 5-3 loss to the Padres. Players cleared the benches and came out yelling at each other. Dodgers manager Dave Roberts even threatened the Padres afterwards . Then, in the bottom half of the inning, the Padres responded by throwing at Shohei Ohtani.

On Friday, MLB said that Roberts and Padres manager Mike Shildt had each been fined and suspended one game. Padres relief pitcher Robert Suarez was suspended for three games. Suarez is appealing his suspension, while both managers will serve theirs on Friday.

Suarez hit Ohtani in the bottom of the 9th after Tatis Jr. had been hit in the top of the inning, so it’s clear MLB believes his actions were intentional and is punishing him accordingly.

Ohtani being hit in the bottom of the 9th was the eighth hit by pitch of the series. Both Ohtani and Tatis Jr. were hit twice.

The Padres and Dodgers play each other six more times this season. You can be sure the league will have a close eye on the games.
