We brought out the brooms Monday for a 3-0 sweep in strikeout props, but there's no time to celebrate the strong start to the week. Let's keep it rolling with my three favorite K props for Wednesday's MLB slate.
It's becoming a daily tradition to fade starting pitchers going up against the Atlanta Braves, and why stop now? The Braves have the most runs (84), the highest OPS (.938), and the third-fewest strikeouts per game (7.3) in baseball over the last two weeks. Atlanta has also crushed right-handed pitching all year, while Cal Quantrill has gone under this number in four of his last five starts.
It hasn't been a banner year for Lance Lynn (5-8 with a 6.47 ERA), but he's still one of the best strikeout artists in MLB. The Chicago White Sox starter ranks seventh in the league in strikeouts per nine innings this season (10.88), and he's recorded 30 Ks over his last three starts. I think he stays hot against a Toronto Blue Jays team that has averaged 9.5 strikeouts per game over the last two weeks.
Raise your hand if you predicted Taijuan Walker would be far and away the best pitcher in the Philadelphia Phillies' starting rotation this year. Yeah, me neither. The right-hander has out-performed both Aaron Nola and Zack Wheeler with his 9-3 record and 3.93 ERA, and he's been on fire lately with 32 strikeouts over his last five starts. The Tampa Bay Rays struck out 14 times against the Phillies Wednesday, so Walker should have a good chance to clear this number.
