MLB best bets, HR props for Wednesday 8/2: Things looking up for O's Ryan Mountcastle

The MLB trade deadline is officially behind us, and it's time to shift our focus toward the home stretch of the regular season. Let's kick off the post-deadline stretch with my three favorite home run prop bets for Wednesday's slate.

Ryan Mountcastle (+425 DraftKings)

If you're looking for a positive hitter-pitcher matchup for Wednesday's slate, look no further than Ryan Mountcastle versus Yusei Kikuchi. Mountcastle has five hits against Kikuchi in 10 career at-bats, and four of them were home runs. The first baseman is also on fire with a .382 batting average, five doubles, and two homers, over the last two weeks. This is a no-brainer.

Matt McLain (+450 DK)

Matt McLain is the hottest hitter in the Cincinnati Reds' lineup right now. The shortstop is hitting .326 over the last two weeks, and he leads the team in home runs and RBIs during that stretch. McLain has faced Chicago Cubs starter Drew Smyly only three times, but he recorded a hit in all three at-bats. Let's ride the hot hand here.

Freddie Freeman (+390 DK)

No one in MLB is seeing the ball better than Freddie Freeman right now. The Los Angeles Dodgers slugger has 19 hits and four home runs in his last 44 at-bats, and he's recorded multiple hits in six of his last 10 games. This price is so high because the Dodgers are facing a left-handed pitcher today, but Freeman is hitting .325 with a team-leading 11 homers against lefties this year. Give me the +390.
