We brought out the brooms for a 3-0 sweep in strikeout props Tuesday to bring our record to 4-1 on the week. Let's take another positive step toward a fourth straight winning week with my three favorite K props for Wednesday's MLB slate.
Lance Lynn has always been a top-tier strikeout artist, but that hasn't been the case lately. The Los Angeles Dodgers starter has notched only five strikeouts over his last 17.1 innings pitched, and he's surrendered 17 hits and 10 earned runs over his last two starts. The Miami Marlins also have the third-lowest strikeout rate in MLB over the last 15 days (19.32 percent), so they'll be able to make Lynn work and hopefully chase him from the game early.
Spencer Strider has become a regular in the strikeout prop column, and he's been kind to us all season. The Atlanta Braves right-hander leads MLB with 13.8 strikeouts per nine innings, so I'm surprised sportsbooks are still offering plus-money odds on his over. The St. Louis Cardinals have recorded a 29.97 percent strikeout rate over the last 15 days, which is a bottom-five mark in the league in that span. Strider has gone over 9.5 Ks in four of his last six home starts, and this is a solid matchup for him to do it again.
The best pitching matchup of the night is going down in the Lone Star State, as former teammates Max Scherzer and Justin Verlander will face off for the first time with their new teams. I'm giving the edge to Scherzer, who's averaging 7.83 strikeouts per game since joining the Texas Rangers last month. It won't be easy against a Houston Astros lineup that's recorded the lowest strikeout rate in MLB over the last week (15.0 percent), but Scherzer did rack up eight Ks in his lone start against the 'Stros this year.
